How to check RERA registration before you buy
RERA is the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016. Most residential projects above a minimum size must be registered with the state RERA authority before they are advertised or sold.
Ask the builder or broker for the RERA number, then search for it on your state's official RERA website. Check that the project name, promoter and location match what you were told.
Look at the approved plans, the promised completion date and any complaints listed against the project. Brokers selling these projects should also have their own RERA agent registration.
If something does not match, ask for an explanation in writing before paying anything.
